about

This EP is the first exploration of myself as a musical artist. I have always loved music, and I love the idea of incorporating different concepts and instruments that stand out to me and that I like in my favourite songs and seeing how they could go together. Over the entire creative process, I learned to come to terms with my skill set and experience and how some initial ideas were overly ambitious. Due to my lack of experience, I was somewhat hard on myself when I couldn’t get things to turn out as I imagined. I don’t know if my EP plays as one cohesive collection of work. Instead, it is an experimental collection showing my exploration to find my taste and style as an artist moving forward.

This EP reflects how my music taste constantly changes and goes through different phases with different genres and artists. My inspiration throughout the process was continually evolving, and I took little elements that I liked from different genres and song types. Inspiration for the tracks include artists such as Frank Ocean, Childish Gambino, Travis Scott, Kendrick Lamar and more. The EP features three instrumental tracks, all very different but with some common elements (such as high hats, heavy bass, electric guitar and synth leads), the third being a chill interlude track. The final track was an experiment inspired by taking a sample from one genre and transforming it into a different style and sound. Track 4: Dreaming in These Walls features samples from a 90s pop song (It Must Be Love - Phajja) with rap vocals from Kendrick Lamar (These Walls).
